The last time I tried "working out" I used free weights and weight machines.I don't work out because I: (a) am lazy, and (b) don't have time. Doesn't seem worth it to get a gym membership to go only on weekends. |

The interesting thing about all the studies on resistance training shows that it's very effective for burning fat.I'm sure it's true because of the metabolic cost of maintaining muscle, and all that stuff experts eloquently explain. But I think something else is happening. I think participants in a resistance training study are making significantly better food choices. I say this because of the obsessive cult-like mentality of those who lift weights. This is why people who resistance train lose more fat than people who distance run. |

I'm skeptical of statistical articles that are written by MD's. My skepticism dates back to the early 1970's, when I discovered a fundamental error in calculating the Framingham Risk Score for heart attacks. I wrote a published article at that time. It's the reason I conducted my own analysis of the Covid data. You may recall that I discovered the vaccine's waning efficacy in July 2021 (as a result of outbreaks in Provincetown MA and the Israeli data). That was several months before it was discovered by others. There are several reasons for not jumping to conclusions from this study. The big question should be how does this affect mortality. That question is answered in this paragraph from the article: Meaning In highly active individuals with elevated levels of coronary artery calcification, it appears that there is no evidence to suggest increased mortality risk from high levels of physical activity. The next question concerns the articles assertion as to whether increased physical activity results in increased CAC. One troubling aspect concerns the data contained in the article's Table 1. You will note the table is divided into 2 CAC categories: less than 100 AU and more than 100 AU for normal and elevated CAC. However, the first data line throws doubt on the results. You will note that the average age for those with lower CAC levels is around 50, whereas the average age for those with higher CAC levels is around 58. This raises the question as to whether the subsequent differences are due to physical activity or the age difference in the two populations. |

I want to be removed from the List of Handles. I was a lacrosse attack and played at 5'11" and 185 lbs and now I weigh around 190 lbs. I am in quote excellent physical condition close quote and walk 20 - 25 miles per week at 17 minute miles which approximates 3.5 miles/hr. Now you can go ahead and take me off of it. You can replace me with #5 - Dyre Ave or that J trainloco guy who was undefeated against me notwithstanding the fact that is admittedly a low bar. The J trainloco hailed from parts unknown and wreaked havoc on these boards. Just a really formidable opponent. |

Interesting observation. Many believe that rigorous activity, mainly cardio, can be bad. I can't explain it, but it's related to lactic acid. But for many reasons, you and people on the list have to do steady state cardio instead of intervals. Actually, you cycle. Cycling is a form of interval training. I say that because you peddle, coast, peddle, coast, then maybe go up a steep hill then coast down. This is interval training. |

I'm going to look into lacrosse over the next few hours and see if you should be removed from the List. However, I have already compiled a new List for another topic and you are on the List. In fact, you're in the OP. |

Attn: List of handles, posted by LuchAAA on Tue Jun 9 14:17:36 2026. cortelyounext is no longer on the List of high-volume, steady-state cardio people. However, I'd like him to go to the nearest park and take a video running a 40-yard dash. "Muscle runners" are the most popular sneakers for sprint drills these days. |
