But actual ballot-harvesting in California they're dead silent about.

So are Republicans. Because it isn't happening.

It should be easier.

You don’t hear Republicans complaining because Republicans benefit from voter suppression, so of course they don’t complain.

How much easier can it get?! You wake up, you get dressed, you go to the polls, and you vote! Or you vote before or after work explanation point it's not a hard concept!

Voter suppression? What exactly is that? And why would the Republicans benefit from that and not the Democrats?

This whole thing is akin to getting rid of the April 15th tax filing deadline because it's "too soon" for some people, even though they know it comes up every year at the same time.

explanation point

LOL!

The April 15 deadline is fine because you have 3.5 months and you can do it from home. If everyone had to show up to do their taxes in person on April 15 between 6 AM and 9 PM, then it would be analogous.

Republicans benefit from voter suppression because otherwise they wouldn't win. It used to be that Republicans actually competed for votes, now they don't bother. Your posts are a case in point. Why does this change harm you? Why do you think that there should be even a slight barrier to voting?

People who are retired are more likely to be Republicans. People who work long hours, or who work and go to school at the same time are more likely to be Democrats.

How do you get that? So if I'm working and I am a Democrat, when I retire I am going to become a Republican?
And no, the change does not harm me at all. In fact, my issue is not about election day per se, it's about the enabling that we do as a society to kowtow to the lowest common denominators and lift them up when they should be lifting themselves up. But let's call this what this is, this is solely coming about because Donald Trump won the 2016 presidential election and the liberal powers-that-be figured out that if you gave the Slackers multiple options on how to vote, maybe they might just vote next time around instead of not bother showing up at the voting booth, which is what happened in 2016.

1. People change. So yes, people become more conservative with age, generally.

2. In this case we should cater to the lowest common denominator. Voting should be as easy as possible. The only reason an eligible citizen shouldn’t vote is because he doesn’t want to vote.

3. Actually, the State Assembly proposed this years ago, but it died in the Senate. So the only connection to Trump is that he “helped” the Democrats take the State Senate in 2018.

But regardless, what is the problem with getting the slackers to vote more other than the fact that they vote for people you don’t like?

Your ignorance is showing.

The early voting uses exactly the same machines.

The ballots are paper; only the ballot counters are automated, and the ballots are preserved for any future recount.

Every voter name is recorded. Yes, it's possible that Joe can vote, pretending to be Jim. But if Jim shows up later and wants to vote, he won't be allowed to, and there will be a major fuss.

The Board of Elections is 50% Democrats and 50% Republicans.

So either you know all of this and your post was deliberately deceptive, or else you just insist on remaining ignorant.

Employees in New York who do not have at least four consecutive hours between the opening or closing of polls and their work shift are entitled to up to two hours of paid time off to vote on Election Day, provided specific notice is given to their employer
If you have a four-hour window to vote before or after your shift, you are not eligible for paid voting leave.
If not, you may take up to two hours of paid time off at either the start or end of your shift, as designated by your employer (unless otherwise mutually agreed)

I vote early because if I die between the onset of early voting my vote counts.

As for voting often, I can only vote once. Why? Because they ask me my name (I would rather show ID) and sign the register book that I received a ballot for that particular election.

How can they? When I go to vote they look up my name. There is a box to sign. Once I sign it I vote. Therefore I don't see how anyone else can vote using my name.......if I had to show ID or not. Me signing in the box shows the voting inspector that no one else can vote using my name and it prevents me from voting multiple times.

This has already been addressed. If someone calling himself Bill votes in Bill's name, and then Bill tries to vote, he will be rejected. So then Bill makes a big fuss and he probably gets to vote under a special affadavit.

These incidents are tracked. There might be dozens of them in a given year in NYC.

If there is ever an ultra-close race, each such case is investigated. The guy who claimed to be Bill is at risk of being charged with a crime if they find him.

Looking at the people who do the counting and investigation, I'm sure those affadavit's are kept secure and always thouroughly investigated to their proper conclusion.
