It's a genetic adaptation. White, northern Europeans are most adapted. They thrived on alcohol. Now many drink a lot of alcohol and can't even socialize without it. Many drink to get drunk. In southern Europe they might drink alcohol, but it's just a glass of wine with dinner. Most other ethnic groups should stay away from alcohol, but we're all programmed to think it's a social norm. PS. I was looking at this guy's FB page recently. He wasn't a friend. Just a guy from Queens in knew in the 90's. He is uber Irish-Catholic. Went to Catholic school. His father was NYPD. His posts are usually politics, sports, or alcohol related. Most recently he checked in to a bar on Long Island and his profile picture shows him holding a glass of alcohol. His FB feed has featured bar check ins before. But I was elated to see him holding the glass. I'm convinced northern Europeans thrive on alcohol. |

If we consume the right amount of energy we thrive. And if our macros are dialed in things get even better.I have a theory about Italians and height. Italians, especially immigrants. Italian families are very big. 6-8 kids was common. That's a lot of energy/food for one household. When Italians started having far fewer kids, suddenly the boys got much taller. My grandfather was short and from a family of 9 kids(one died as an infant). But my grandfather had two kids, my mother and uncle. My uncle reached 6'0 1/2. From my observations, this is common with Italians. When there are fewer kids, thus more calories per kid available, the boys grow much taller.(I don't worry about the women as much, because I don't care about their height). |

The kids could have also inherited tall genes from their mother. Women are just going to be shorter than men even with the same genes. Also with height it's not just calories in that case it's macros too. |

This Italians I have in mind, especially southern Italians, are all from the same gene pool. Everyone was short. I just think men worry about height for mating reasons. We want height to attract women. |

Wrestling and bodybuilding(Re: PP405) |
|
|
Posted by LuchAAA on Thu Oct 30 03:04:41 2025, in response to PP405, posted by LuchAAA on Sun Oct 5 01:03:47 2025. It's interesting to see so many wrestlers and bodybuilders use heavy amounts of steroids yet not go bald. They say testosterone and it's byproduct DHT are responsible for most men losing hair. I'm talking about older wrestlers like Paul Orndorff, Roddy Piper, Scott Steiner, Ultimate Warrior, etc.............Orndorff and Warrior barely had a receding hairline. In bodybuilding, guys like Tom Platz and Frank Zane seem to have kept their hair. Dorian Yates does have typical male pattern balding but he held up through his 50's. So, it's amazing to see guys abuse steroids and actually maintain a full head of hair when ordinary guys struggle. Some same men with high estrogen levels are less likely to lose hair. |

Me too.But I'm thinking there is something about blasting anabolics that somehow reverses or prevents hair loss, and it isn't understood by doctors yet. I doubt that Orndorff, Ultimate Warrior, and Piper took all those drugs, and just happened to have the right genetics for hair. It's something about the hormones that is doing it. |

I knew someone would play the Hogan card. Look at his high school yearbook photo. His hair is very thin.Yes guys on steroids can lose hair. Randy "Macho Man" Savage was balding young too. Back to Hogan, he actually didn't take heavy amounts of steroids. Mostly Dianabol and some testosterone. He was a big watery guy. When men go on TRT under doctors care, they are warned that hair loss is a possible side effect. But for some reason, there are many examples of guys taking heavy amounts of steroids for many years and don't even have a receding hairline. There is probably something related to estrogen levels that aren't fully understood by doctors that preserves hair. It is a fact that when transgendered men take estradiol, it reverses baldness. But estradiol causes breast enlargement and sexual dysfunction, which apparently are side effects they don't mind. |
