What difference will this make.. especially in NYS?
The ability to "have an abortion" will still be available in New York, even for out of staters...

This whole nonsense was a device to shake up the radicals..the feminist..the LEFT-WING...TO distract them from wondering what they are really up to.

And do you really think the blue laws were primarily based on non-religious reasons? The purported business reasons you cited could have been satisfied by passing similar restrictions for Saturday rather than Sunday - but nonetheless, Sunday, the common religious day of rest in the US, was universally chosen. Based on your reasoning, that should make all such laws unconstitutional as being "based on religion", despite the purported social benefits, no?

The same reasons they gave before Loving. Texas’s law appears to put a bounty on abortions performed while Roe is still on the books but later overturned.

My point is that there is no prior Supreme Court case that requires following if you use the analysis that Justice Alito has used in his opinion. A state like Hawaii could follow the same type of law like Texas did in creating a bounty system in abortion matters but instead of abortions target Judges who are in interracial marriages and make it no defense that Loving made it legal. The Texas law does not allow a defense based on Roe or Casey making the abortion legal at the time it was performed. However, rather than the minimum of $10,000 bounty in Texas, Hawaii makes it $1,000,000,000.00

Absurd argument. States have the ability to push all sort of absurd laws but never do because they are, in fact, absurd. I am not anti abortion and see nothing changing in my state but I do believe in the constitution, especially the part that says that powers not specifically given to the federal government, belong to the states.

I am also outraged by the leaking of this document and even more-so thevasshole-in-chief weighing in on the subject with highly polarizing rhetoric.

The morning after pill has only been legally available in all states as of 2013, and that is by FDA regulation. Such a regulation could easily be abolished by a Republican administration.

If the FDA says a drug may not be sold or manufactured in the US, then the only way you can get it is the same way you can get meth, namely illegally.

So now the FDA is going to go after drug companies bottom line and ban the morning after pill?. I don't think so. Drug companies have lobbyists and politicians listen. Money talks.
Besides,in addition to meth being poison and The morning after pill isn't, banning something doesn't stop demand (good luck with the proposed ban on menthol cigarettes BTW). Worst case scenario, there's always Canada.

You say that meth is poison. It is. But so is the abortion pill to someone who believes abortion is murder.

The last few years have proven that the former Republican Party is no longer the party of big business and is the party of even jellicle culture. Look at how Smart Trump (DeSantis) is going after Disney. They’ll throw the drug companies to the curb if their voters want them to. They’ll just make sure that their members of Congress and their friends can sell their stock and take a short position before announcing it.

Canada is fine for women who can go to Canada, but not everyone can afford the plane ticket, the hotel room, and the time off. Not to mention that the pill doesn’t work right away, so someone will take the pill in Canada, return home, suffer complications requiring an ER visit, and then get arrested.

Besides, why should we have to rely on the beneficence of other countries in the land of the free? People come here to flee persecution elsewhere, and not the other way around. We belong at the top of the world’s countries.

"But so is the abortion pill to someone who believes abortion is murder."

Anyone who believes the abortion pill is murder wouldn't take it in the first place

"Canada is fine for women who can go to Canada,..."

What I had in mind is having the pills shipped or "muled" into the country. I doubt that morning after pills would be high on the custom agents priority lists.

"People come here to flee persecution elsewhere, and not the other way around"

Truth! Like my ancestors (Catholics from Northern Ireland) came here to escape religious persecution from the Brits.

But thats for another thread.

I never said "going to." I said it was a realistic possibility if we have a Republican Congress and White House in 2025.

Instead of meth, make it marijuana, but actually enforced.

Worst case scenario, there's always Canada.

Smuggling in from Canada could be made as serious a crime as smuggling in a useful controlled substance like percoset.

The point being that if they believe it’s murder, they’ll ban it for everyone else.

And I don’t know anyone who can get me drugs so I don’t take drugs.* The same would be true for abortion pills.

I wouldn't say most states, maybe just a majority. Also, there will be whole regions banning abortion, so it won't simply be a matter of crossing state lines, not if the next state over also bans abortions. Also, there will be the inevitable lawsuits against anyone and everyone who "assists" in abortions - will that include transportation companies?
