Not false, King did support affirmative action. In 1963, he wrote that blacks fully deserved “special, compensatory measures” in jobs, education and other realms. He wrote that in “Why We Can’t Wait."

Four years later, in “Where Do We Go From Here?” he wrote: “A society that has done something special against the Negro for hundreds of years must now do something special for him.”

Ripping quotes out of context, I see, never mind deliberate truncation. Full context here; while there are points of view one may logically object to, no endorsement of affirmative action is in there.

He, and the other extreme right-wingers here are just hyper-triggered that a Black woman might actually be qualified for, and obtain, a station in life that was once exclusively the province of straight, White males. They conveniently overlook that the door was closed and locked to other groups for most of American history, and they cannot fathom that there are actually many highly qualified Black women who can sit on the SCOTUS bench.

I have no doubt that there are highly qualified black women on the bench. In fact, I know some excellent black female judges in Queens and Brooklyn. I’m not scared of black female judges at all.

My point was that MLK dreamed of a society where people’s character mattered more than the color of their skin. Biden’s announced intention to ONLY seek a black female judge on the Supreme Court runs directly against MLK’s dream. It also smacks of affirmative action.

These women may be the most qualified and the most ethical in the field but they are being chosen not by the content of their character but by the color of their skin. All this stupid mother fucking moron of a president had to do was say he's choosing a person of high Character and qualification and there is no controversy but racists like you need to be reassured. But he is right. They may be the most qualified. Wonderful. But they aren't being chosen on their merits, they are being chosen because of a certain choice of skin color. It is an abomination for all the work that women did to get to where she was, to be chosen not by that hard work, but instead, the color of her skin (and the fact she doesn't have a dick)
