The fiscal crisis meant a ton of cutbacks and a ripe environment for far more trouble. |

Yeah, but the end result was that we had a major downgrade in services, because service costs increased over the years. As far as how ugly it's gotten: I think it depends on the part of the city. Up until the pandemic, I felt the city was doing OK, despite the mayor and the protests, which were largely peaceful to me. The pandemic and the recent increases in crime, esp. race-based ones, has changed my view significantly. |
