Typical politician.She wanted responsibility and authority, but once she got it she doesn't know how to deal with it. She will avoid going to the border for as long as she can. Actually, this "condition" is not limited to politicians. In my years at Chase I saw this a number of times, usually from people with high level college degrees (MBA etc). They get the managerial level position (at high pay) and don't stay long because they have no idea what they are doing (even though they have a staff well versed in what needs to be done). |

She was put in charge of ending the crisis at the border. To do so, she's visiting Latin American governments to press for cooperation. That's what she's supposed to be doing.That said, I would have expected her to want to see firsthand what the problem is. That's typically what officials do in a crisis. The fact that she hasn't visited the border is obviously intentional. As critical as Joebiden was of Trump's handling of the border situation, I recall that he went there several times to see for himself. I see it similar to how I would see someone that's put in charge of public transit, but has never ridden public transit and refuses to do so. |

In November 2019 I went on a driving and walking trip that involved a bunch of places right near the border (Buenos Aires NWR, Organ Pipe Cactus NM, Anza-Borrego Desert SP). Everything looked totally OK to me. But it turned out some major incidents occurred right while I was there. |

The human condition doesn't come through at all in a visit to the border. It's desolate land with a fence, and lots of law enforcement officers who now and then have brief spurts of intense activity, just like law enforcement officers everywhere.Maybe in a visit to detention facilities, but I haven't heard anyone demand that Harris visit detention facilities. |
