Nobody on this thread is saying that you can’t peacefully protest for reform nationwide. Violence and criminal activity, on the other hand, is rightfully stopped by police. Seen on Facebook, and it's absolutely true:Colin Kaepernick tried to peacefully warn is that something was deeply and systemically wrong, and he was vilified and ignored for it. Understand that I do prefer nonviolent direct action over rioting. (I myself helped organize and lead several marches against gay-bashing when I lived in Queens.) But there does come a time when ceful protesting stops working. Gay men went peacefully to horrible fates at the hands of the justice system, for breaking laws that were themselves unjust, for all of American history, until one night in 1969. I find it the height of absurdity to be expected to absorb the excruciatingly atrocious death of George Floyd peacefully. Again, people of color have been collectively knifed by the repeated incidences of the state taking their lives and blaming the victims, and Floyd's death is an especially egregious example of this. Nobody gets to tell us how to bleed. |

Violence and criminal activity, on the other hand, is rightfully stopped by police.100% agreed. It's morally wrong, illegal, and bad tactics. Nobody on this thread is saying that you can’t peacefully protest for reform nationwide. However, JayZ is correct in saying that many people, including many on OTChat, asserted that Colin Kaepernick did not have the right to protest. Without at all excusing destruction of property or attempted murder of police officers, maybe these violent protests wouldn't have happened if so many people hadn't been so dismissive of Kaepernick's actions. |

Want to know why the riots are happening?Let me give you an excellent example: The noted rapper T.I. made an impassioned plea, on live TV, for people in Atlanta to "stop destroying the city, because Atlanta has always been there for us". T.I. then returned home to his gated community, which had previously arrested him because their security didn't believe he lived there. Racism permeates everything. You don't get to be the arbiter of how people respond to the enormity of the atrocity that caused the death of George Floyd. |

That is pure racism, calling police on your own mayor of Mount Vernon, along with two people who were with him.Again, nationwide protest in every city may involve blocking traffic and stopping streets. It does not give anarchists the right to throw a Molotov cocktail at an occupied police van, smash a deputy inspector with a brick, shove a dumpster at a protestor, break windows at an Auto Zone while carrying an umbrella, destroy property, cause fear among other protestors and non protestors, etc. |

Most Americans believed that kaepernick was disrespecting the flag and said so by protesting the NFL. You found ONE person who feels that Kaepernick was right.
