Re: Bye Bye Yankees

Not to mention that teams moving to or starting in the West Coast wasn't really a thing until the mid-to-late 1950's.

Why is that significant? All the "major league" teams were on the east coast and it made it easier to travel between the cities with teams by bus back in the day. With transcontinental travel blooming starting in the 1950's with more powerful piston and later, jet aircraft, the travel was easier, to a point.

It's called good luck, AND home field advantage.

The Nationals (nee Expos) were already in the NL, same as now.

How do you figure that? The current system makes it easier for any given team with a winning record to make it to the World Series by providing paths that weren’t available before, but it puts more teams in contention, which makes it more difficult for one team to build a dynasty.

Because it allows middling second place teams to win the World Series championship.

The calling of the balls & strikes was very inconsistant, for both teams, I'll give you that. If you're gonna call em high or low, inside or outside, at least be consistant. That umpire crew was guilty of sloppy pitch calling.
That said, regardless of the men in blue, the Yankees were beaten fair & square by the better team. Period!

So you're implying that one has to have umpire experience to be able to tell when an umpire misses call(s), balls and strikes?
Thats like saying one has to be a carpenter to recognize lousy woodworking, or be a plumber to recognize a leak.
Point being, my opinion of inconsitant umpire performance in the last game by the home plate umpire is shared by many.
However, I stand by my original post, the Yankees were beaten by a better team.
Thats all I'm sayin.

I only asked you a question. I don't care if they won or lost.
I didn't watch the game so I don't know about an inconsistent strike zone but I'll say this about the current state of umpiring and the analysis of the strike zone: This isn't street stickball and the zone they use on tv is not reality and has no basis in umpiring at any level.

The crowds at the stadiums sometimes influence the concentration of the players on the field.

I've been to Chase Field. It can get loud in there.

It's not that much of an issue in baseball. Unless it's a green monster type situation serving up a gopher ball doesn't have much to do with being at home or on the road either.
