Is that bad? I didn't understand the phrase "B-roll for the VO/SOT" either, but the basics of what he was saying seem clear: someone made a mistake and played the wrong footage. There is no reason to think it was deliberate. It was a result of miscommunication, not of political bias. If you think otherwise, it just shows your own bias against the news media. As the saying goes, "Never attribute to malice that which is adequately explained by stupidity." Or by sloppiness.

In any event, since it's impossible to prove a negative, the burden is on the person making the assertion to prove their assertion. The right wingers have failed to show that the video was purposefully used when it was known to be something else.

Also not whataboutism because it's not directly comparable to what Obama did. Obama implemented a slowdown of the withdrawal schedule originally put into place by President Bush, and the withdrawal was undertaken after detailed consultation with senior military officials (among whom, of course, there was no unanimous agreement on any single course).

In contrast, Trump did this on a whim without consulting anyone, and without any planning to minimize adverse effects.

As an aside, maybe the Iranians will tone down their anti-Trump rhetoric now that he's proving himself to be their faithful friend.

I am with you on most everything re. Trump. That said written, I might have left off the word "just" in your post as it tends to minimize if not excuse the so called mistake. My understanding is that ABC and similar news organizations have a robust, rigorous, vetting process in place and even the most fundamental editorial and quality control processes are too important to let something like this "slip through" the cracks. Moreover, it aired the video on the flagship World News Tonight but apparently did not deem the error worthy enough to be corrected/apologized for on World News Tonight. According to Brian Stelter of CNN, the ubiquitous and tired "We apologize for the error", which is the second most ubiquitous and tired phrase running a distant second to "Safety remains our top priority", was issued on Twitter feed. Now I understand Twitter feed gets a lot of hits, but still...

I cannot discuss Trump without feeling ill, so there's that...

I put the blame for ISIS squarely on the backs of the Iraqi and Syrian govts. The Iraqis gutted their trained military and filled it with corrupt officers, which otherwise would have easily routed ISIL at that time. The Syrians prioritized getting rid of any pro-democracy movements than in getting rid of the vastly more brutal ISIS.
