I am less worried about the damage Cuomo can do to NY than I am about the damage that one-sided gerrymandering in 2021 can do to the United States. Electing Cuomo will be one step toward preventing one-sided gerrymandering. |

The answer is 2020 redistricting. If the State Assembly and Senate are controlled by the Democrats, there' very little a Governor can do except veto. If there's a stalemate between between a Republican governor and a Democratic legislature, the courts will decide it. |

The only thing I ever heard resembling that was that they were responsible for the 1965 Immigration Act due to the United States lack of interest in the 1930s when the Nazis will come into power and they thought that the United States was two white shell they want to change the makeup of the country. |

If there's a stalemate between between a Republican governor and a Democratic legislature, the courts will decide it.Exactly. As long as the Supreme Court allows gerrymandering, NY has to do its share to combat Texas, Georgia, etc. If the courts decide NY, it will be fair redistricting. This country can't afford for NY to have fair districts while TX and GA have unfair ones. |

Not with trump seeking to eviscerate rights. If they can remain intact in this microcosm, I'll vote for Cuomo and Democratic candidates to ensure we here at least have a fighting chance. Add to that redistricting and it becomes an airtight argument. |

There is an irony to your reasoning. In 2012 Cuomo used the carrot of allowing the State Legislature to continue gerrymandering in exchange for shitting on state worker unions with the Tier 6 retirement changes.Article Excerpt: The pension bill passed after threats — Cuomo preferred the word "options" — to lawmakers that if they didn't adopt independently drawn voting districts he would veto redistricting bills. But he signed the redistricting legislation created by the Legislature into law on Thursday after getting some of his other wish-list items. Yes I am aware this is state vs federal. But in a nutshell, you are voting for someone who allowed continued gerrymandering in exchange for screwing the unions, just to counteract gerrymandering. |

Just remember that voting the incumbent is a vote in favor of him and his policies. It is approval for what he's been doing over the last term, and a signal that you want to see more of the same.I don't think Molinaro has a snowball's chance. But the bigger a blowout it is, the Cuomo needs to respect the wishes of his constituancy. Like "shit, this will piss off the union (or black,lgbt,marijuana,pro-choice,whatever) voters. But that one bloc only accounts for 5% (or 10, 15, 20, etc) of the voters. I won last election with 80% of the vote so I can completely disregard that group and survive next election comfortably." |

The spoiler vote actually does matter. While it didn't work out for her, the close race between Hillary and Sanders resulted in her half-heartedly picking up his platform. Enough people go Green, Democrats court the Greens. Enough people go Libertarian, Republicans court the Libertarian.I only vote the incumbent if I more agree than disagree with what they've been doing or saying. For example I am in favor of Paul Tonko and Tom DiNapoli. I will not feel shame in saying the phrase "I voted for {name}" for these incumbents despite disagreeing with Tonko on some issues. But yeah, the rest of them I will either abstain because I don't know who they are, or vote the (R) or (L) challenger to try and send a message (not because I think they'll win). |

When republicans listen and vote according to the wishes of a majority of their constituents, they'll be welcome back. Until then there's a nation to pull out of this train wreck, to keep the damage to what's already been done, and to get things on the long road back to healing again. |
