While I think something is off about the Professor’s story because this was known awhile ago, I think the Republicans lost a majority because of his comments about “abortion inducing drugs” and a lax attitude toward precedent. The Democrats better be careful what they wish for because there are plenty of jurists more extreme than Kavanaugh and with less of a track record. Trump could easily nominate Amul Thapar as the first Indian-American Supreme Court Justice. |

The tactics that caused Merrick Garland to not even be considered for 10 months ?Trump won because of the stupid blue collar Dems in the 3 rust belt states believed his populist horseshit and their local plants would re-open. With his approval rating down to 36%, that advantage is gone. |

Over-turning Roe v Wade won't stop abortion. It was passed as a public health issue, not a partisan issue. Abortions had been a function of location and wealth. Done under dangerous conditions for all others. Reagan made it partisan in order to get the vote of the Fundamentalist, who have now hijacked the GOP. No consideration to the health of the mother. Pure sexism. |

I have my concerns, namely his belief in unchecked power of executive/judiciary. See his comments regarding Carpenter and previous writings on investigations of the President. When you give the government that much control it never ends well. I also have concerns about his attitude towards precedent. His answers were what I would expect from someone like Justice Sotomayor, a Justice who has zero respect for precedent if it goes against her view of the Constitution. We do not need another Justice who thinks that the Constitution is what the individual Justice says it is. |
