Did you ever develop object permanence? You do realize that things like traffic jams exist despite the fact that you can't see them with your own eyes?

Once again, the traffic jam BEGAN long before YOU could see it. That's what Waze is for.

Since there was a two mile backup, three lanes wide, that means that at any given time there were 1200 cars stuck on the BQE. So over the course of the night it was many thousands of cars delayed between 20 minutes and an hour. So you are saying there were thousands of WAZE users you avoided the BQE that night. That is highly unlikely. What percentage of drivers would you say use WAZE regularly?

fiogf49gjkf0d
I never said that the traffic jam was not there before I could see it. Of course it was there and probably was getting worse by the minute.

But your claim that WAZE would have gotten me home sooner is unsubstantiated unless it would have kept me off the BQE in the first place which it would not have done since I began my trip around midnight BEFORE the delays had started. Once on the BQE and after the LIE turnoff, there really was no other alternative. There were long delays at all exits except for the Williamsburg Bridge and Morgan Avenue.

It made no sense to go to Manhattan on,y to have to return to Brooklyn. And as I said there is no easy route that does not involve many turns and missed traffic signals if I got off at Morgan. The delays to get back on the BQE at Atlantic was also an unknown if thousands of other cars were using local reads to get back on there.

So the only other choices were Kent and Tillary, both of which were bad.

Have you ever thought that maybe a U-turn via Morgan or Metro and a return to the LIE would be faster? Obviously you couldn't have known that in advance, but Waze could have.

And there is a faster route if you take the Morgan or Metro exits that uses only local streets. Waze could have sent you that way.

That you started the trip before Midnight doesn't matter. Waze would have updated the ETA and recalculated the route.

Please stop talking about "It made no sense to go to Manhattan only to have to return to Brooklyn." Of course it makes no sense but no one other than you is suggesting it.

It made no sense to go to Manhattan on,y to have to return to Brooklyn. And as I said there is no easy route that does not involve many turns and missed traffic signals if I got off at Morgan. Given the absence of a northbound (eastbound) lane due to the rebuilding of the Kosciuszko Bridge going in that direction is always bad now at any time so at most turning around at Morgan to go back to the LIE would have saved ten minutes.

I mentioned the Willamsburg Bridge exit because someone suggested getting off at an earlier exit and that and Morgan were the only choices.

As I said, there were over 50 cars waiting at the Metropolitan exit so it probably would have been no faster than Wythe which I took. As for Morgan, when I passed it, I had no idea traffic would come to a halt without warning just before the Williamsburg Bridge exit.

The right lane is closed approaching the Morgan entrance. It doesn't affect traffic coming from the Morgan entrance. However they've also narrowed Meeker Avenue eastbound.

It would have been faster than Wythe because Wythe is always a nightmare, even in "normal" conditions.

Your the one who said at 12:10a.m. you seen the sign. Or are you going to claim you didn't say that? The next traffic report on 1010 Wins would have been at 12:11a.m. Not sure when traffic is on 880AM. You said you figured you had enough time, well you figured wrong, you screwed yourself especially since DOT had it on there website at least 3 days before the work.

God forbid you do ANYTHING to help yourself, considering you are fighting the fact of checking traffic to plan YOUR travel route. The only disappointing part of this story is you got home in an hour and twenty minutes, it should have been longer as punishment for your inability to plan.

What are you talking about. There is no eastbound entrance at Morgan. After the exit at Humboldt the next entrance is after Varick after snaking through two lanes at Meeker. Betcha that is always crowded.

And Metroplitan is a bigger nightmare than Wythe. Wythe is backed up around 40 percent of the times I am there while Metro is backed up around 80 percent of the time.

Don't be obtuse. You obviously know what I meant by "Morgan entrance" as it is directly opposite the exit, which isn't along Morgan either. And I mentioned the narrowing of Meeker at that point, so I'm not sure why you are repeating it.

And you can bet all you want, but I can tell you that it is not always crowded. Its crowding corresponds to eastbound delays on the Kosciuszko Bridge, which you would be able to see going the other way. Or are you not going to believe me just like the Atlantic Avenue elevator?

Regardless, Waze would know whether it's crowded or not. Thus if you were using it, it would only tell you to use Meeker if you were actually better off doing so.

I don't agree with you about Wythe. Wythe is always backed up into the highway itself, Metro is rarely like that.
