Neither Biden nor O'Malley could win a general election.I see where you're going with Rubio. I have a sneaky suspicion that "candidate" Trump and "President" Trump are not one and the same. A President Trump would be more along the lines of a Nixon/Ford Republican versus a Regan Neocon or a Tea Party candidate. |

Problem with President Trump is his ego will get in the way and I am afraid he will micromanage everything like Jimmy Carter. As President you need to see the forest through the trees and delegate the lesser stuff. Trump strikes me as someone who wants to be surrounded by yes men who will stroke his ego and tell him everything is just hunky dory thanks to his policies. Michael Bloomberg, his nanny state leanings aside, knew he needed strong advisors to cover his inexperience so that is what he did. |

I just like him better than Trump(who is pathetic) and Cruz(who wanted a shutdown to build his brand name).Jeb Bush is a Bush. And he's not doing the Paleo diet properly. O'Malley or Biden would do something to get the minority/female/LGBT/#checkyourprivilege demos like a VP to appeal to their elements. So many groups hate white males so much that they might just vote Dem. |

Given what I've heard of his actual management style, he considers himself as royalty and delegates everything. He likes executive summaries of jobs done and he is notorious for shitcanning anyone who doesn't meet his expectations. So expect a Presidency where the revolving door keeps spinning and nothing gets done. He's the perfect republican. :) |

Cruz has no track record of getting anything done even in the majority party and has a nasty habit of putting his foot in his mouth. I know you agree with him on immigration, but that stance will not get you any state that Romney lost to Obama. |

I'm not sure why the media is insisting one candidate or another won Iowa, particularly on the Democratic side. It's not winner-take-all, so it's an insignificant number of delegates won separating Sanders and Clinton on one side and Cruz, Trump and Rubio on the other. That really seems more like a tie on both sides. |

Posted by AlM on Wed Feb 3 02:13:24 2016, in response to Re: Iowa Caucus Results Thread, posted by WillD on Tue Feb 2 22:34:23 2016. I'm not sure why the media is insisting one candidate or another won Iowa, particularly on the Democratic side. What the analysts who aren't oversimplifying mean is that certain candidates' prospects for actually attaining the nomination have been improved by the Iowa results and certain candidates' prospects have been damaged. Iowa is demographically considered one of Sanders' best states. The fact that he broke even there indicates poor prospects for him unless he can change his demographic appeal. Rubio's vote total indicates that he has enough appeal that it's more likely than not that Republican primary voters could coalesce on him as the non-Crump. That enhances his prospects even though he came in third. Trump "loses" dramatically because the results hint that his support is capped at about 25%. The other 75% of Republicans mostly despise him*. You can win some primaries with 25% of the vote but you won't ever get enough delegates. * It's remarkable to note that even Republican primary voters can occasionally have good sense. |

He could ask for a recount, and maybe get 2 more delegates. But he would risk future voters considering him petty. Better to save a recount request for a very close winner-take-all state. |
