Interesting. Not particularly relative to Reagan, because it's not conclusive, but in general.

Demonstrating that Reagan was a better president with one hand tied behind his back by encroaching Alzheimer's that some presidents with all their marbles.

Maybe we need presidents to start with better marbles.

Perhaps more to the point, as we age we seem to have more "senior moments" without it necessarily being an indication of Alzheimer's.

There is no history of Alzheimer's on either side of my family and, at 69, I still work full-time at a highly technical job where (inter alia*) I have to evaluate, implement and use new technology and report on same.

But do I sometimes go into a room and try to remember why I did it? You bet. And my wife may cite the time I came home and asked her who she was: "Your wife." Me: "I'm married?"

Don't worry. For those who like my history tidbits, the long-term memory is supposed to go last.

*Apologies to Mr. Next.

I think the brain simply doesn't live as long as the other organs and the result is dementia.

re:... the perfect puppet for those who actually ran things.

Reagan... Clarence Thomas... Bush the Younger... Dan Quayle..... & thinkin' about possibly Bobby Jindahl runing for election.....

I made the same remark to friend a couple of years back about Republicans selectioning weak, spineless leaders, as puppets so the backroom can run things.

She got right to the point and said, "the Republicans don't want government...."

She was right on.....

Gets "better?"

Republicans are SUCH disloyal Americans that they'd also rather Putin than Obama. I think that instead of bombing Iraq, we ought to bomb our own ISIS types back to Baghdad. :)

Or maybe trade them with ISIS so they can be amongst their own. Heh.

"more "senior moments" without it necessarily being an indication of Alzheimer's."

happens to everyone, most of us probably. A former roommate, MIT grad. works for a large data company programming> He tells me, that yes, he still gets everything done, but that there are times, that he just does not have the absolute instant recall he had years ago, when it comes to citing project details to a co-worker.

Alzheimers, as I've been told, has nothing to do with "senior moments" (why did I open the fridge again? why in hell can't I remember the order of the tracks on side 2?), and is a result of what are called "amyloids" - growth of hardening tissue spreading over the brain and stopping the processes which make us aware and conscious of all that is going on.
- above is general info, I was told by a medical person awhile back.

The way I see it, if history ended up being kind to "Ronnie" then it will also have to cut Obama a break somewhere down the road too. Despite all the hoohah out of Faux Snooze, Obama has been far more rightie than librul in what he's actually DONE. Not much good for those who elected him in the end.

But he's sure given the republicans everything THEY wanted. :(

Bill Clinton has come to Albany a number of times since he was President. He put it in this way sorta: "You get elected President and the first thing you learn sitting in that chair is that YOU don't get to run the country the way you intended. Other people run the country and not one of those bastards was elected."

I'll never forget that. :(
