Hmm, if it was representative of the population, that would mean more than a third of the US population should be black. Except they aren't. In 2013, they only represented 13.2%, which means they're accounting for almost 3 times the amount of deaths compared to their percentage of the population as a whole. Add to the fact that they get stopped and frisked more than half the time in NYC, where they make up only a quarter of the population, then yeah, that picked-on feeling starts to see some justification. |

All parents, not just black parents, need to worry about the same things to greater or lesser extents. There is a problem though in some communities, though. Be it because most are single parent families or not but some young men are not taught to respect authority by their parents. This is why there are so many assaults on teachers, firings after hostile confrontations with their boss and so many deadly interactions with police. Sorry, but it is what it is. |
