PS, B6 takes passenger reimbursement for incidents like this seriously. I was on a B6 flight that had a "wheel not turning" indicator light up, while starting to taxi. We did make it back to the gate, stinking of burning rubber. They gave us all vouchers for a free round trip anywhere JetBlue flues, plus put us on another plane to LAS.They DO want to keep your business... |

From the NYC Traffic Rules: "Standing. The term "standing" shall mean the stopping of a vehicle, whether occupied or not, otherwise than temporarily for the purpose of and while actually engaged in receiving or discharging passengers." In your example, what you just considered Standing, is actually Parking. So "No Parking" would also not allow you to do what you want to do. No Standing allows you to quickly pick someone up or drop someone off but not do both if it involves any amount of time between the two actions. And No Parking is exactly the same, except that besides loading or unloading people, you are allowed to load or unload property. But if there is going to be a break in the action, you need to move the vehicle. In my opinion a "1-minute stop waiting for a passenger to finish an errand" WOULD delay traffic, especially at a location where the curb lane with the "no standing" regulation is used as a moving lane. That's where "No stopping" and "no standing" regulations make sense - where the curb lane being regulated is needed and is used as a moving lane. |
