Permitting invocations presents a slippery slope that we really have no ned for in a secular democracy. One can pray among themselves prior to the meeting privately. Nobody's stopping that.Businesses that deal with the general public need to comprehend the concept of professionalism. The sole difference between a gay and hetero wedding cake is the ornament on top. Even there, there's plenty that include neither. |

And private businesses should be free from government intrusion in determining who they serve when it does not violate the Constitution and last I checked there was no equal protection clause for LGBT like there is minorities and the case law has not mandated anti-discrimination protections for non-fundamental rights. There is no good reason sexual preference should not be included. |

And private businesses should be free from government intrusion in determining who they serve when it does not violate the Constitution and last I checked there was no equal protection clause for LGBT like there is minorities and the case law has not mandated anti-discrimination protections for non-fundamental rights.??? Where does the equal protection clause mention minorities? It says all persons deserve equal protection under the law. The only difference between minorities and LGBT is that the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and its successors only apply to the former. So what is inherently wrong about suggesting they be extended to additional classes of people? It's a matter of judgment, not the violation of a fundamental right of private businesses. |

Sexual orientation is not listed and there is a perfectly good reason for sexual orientation to not be included: the free exercise of religion of the business owners. If I feel that doing something that furthers a same sex wedding means I am supporting it and my religious beliefs say otherwise I should be allowed to refuse to serve without threat of legal sanction |

That is not a good reason. The rights of people should not be subject to the arbitrary and capricious interpretation of religious beliefs by others. Once again, if some religion prohibited race mixing, would it be OK for practitioners of that religion to deny services to people of other races? What about denying a wedding cake to an interracial couple by someone who believes it's a sin to marry outside of one's race or to in any way support such a marriage? |
