What colonial power? When the League of Nations Mandate expired in 1948 the British withdrew making Israel terra nullius and therefore available to its people to form their own government. In Israel, Palestinians were made citizens of Israel. Meanwhile, Palestinians living on land occupied by Jordan and Egypt were never made citizens of those states. Israel only occupied those lands in 1967 in order to repel a hostile invasion of its recognized territory. |
