Get an up-to-date example. We have NOT found neutrinos faster than the speed of light. The sloppy scientists that reported this science-shaking Einstein-refuting news didn't realize that their GPS was faulty.

The faith-based (faith in the infallibility of scientists) response of the gullible media heralded all sorts of absurdities based on this "science."

I know the answer to that. The difference is that hypocritical theists complain that non-divine explanations for the origin of the universe are incomplete and therefore there must have been some deity to bring it all about, and completely ignore that the introduction of such a deity leads to the same exact problem and is therefore superfluous to the extent that it is used to explain the initial creation of the universe.

I also get a kick out of how the ignorami refer to a singularity as something comparatively massive like a "mustard seed." Of course it sounds ridiculous when you mischaracterize it. Unfortunately, religiously-motivated origin myths are patently ridiculous even when explained accurately.

So you believe that a mustard seed is ridiculous but the earth and plants preceding the existence of the Sun and stars is not?

I think that the big bang is pretty settled, but I'm always open to new and better explanations. I don't even know what a mustard seed is.

I do have some crazy theories about life and existence, but I don't see why that would bother anyone. But given my own eccentricities other people's crazy theories don't bother me.

The deity, as creator of the universe, is not subject to the laws of the universe, such as the law that says that you have to be created in order to exist. It would be like saying that if I put together a virtual city with a computer program, then I must not exist because I am not subject to the programming that runs the city.

The deity is also not, as you like to say, a wizard. A wizard is, at best, a super-human. To make God into simply a super-human is to miss the essence of theism. It may be a form of deism, but most theists are not deists.

The accuracy of the quoted text isn't the issue, it's the ironic juxtaposition of attitudes used by atheists against people of faith which makes it funny.
