The new design of the Tappen Zee Bridge should be a modified version of the Sunshine Skyway Bridge in Florida. That bridge is 4 miles across and in 1987 cost 244 million. Add inflation and it cost less than 500 million. A nice cable stayed bridge 5 lanes each direction 4 for traffic 1 for dedicated bus lanes, with high speed (70mph+) EZpass. NY is way behind Florida in terms of the high speed EZpass. |
