Romney's Problem, and Obama's |
|
|
Posted by SLRT on Sun Jan 22 11:06:26 2012 I wouldn't count Romney out just yet, but NPR last week kind of honed in on his biggest personal weakness: his tendency to clumsily remind people with remarks like "I make some money from speaking, but not much" about $375K of "not much," that he looks like "Richie Rich Runs for President."Now his being rich doesn't mean he couldn't handle the nation better than Obama. Two of the best thought of liberal Presidents, FDR and JFK were not only filthy rich, but hereditary rich (and his dad, old Joe Kennedy, was a hated figure). But Romney's cluelessness on the appearance of wealth had/has Obama ready to run as the 99% president vs. the 1% challenger. Maybe not now. Gingrich has plenty of baggage, but he faces up to and faces down his opponents. People got sick of hearing about Clinton's philandering; by the end almost no one cared. The latest dribbling out of scandal on Newt, his 2nd wife being brought out like a shrieking apparition to haunt his campaign two days before the SC primary, is starting to get a ho-hum from the public. Maybe ex-President Clinton and future-President Gingrich can have a beer together and talk about chicks. |
