Gordon Heights has much different housing stock than Wheatly Heights, so I doubt it.Gordon Heights is an unusual neighborhood. It's one of the only I know of that is, and ALWAYS was a Black neighborhood. Unlike most other Black Neighborhoods, which usually were white neighborhoods that slowly turned black in the 60's, Gordon Height was built as a "Black Neighborhood". It began in the 40's or 50's, and the developer actually promoted to and targeted Black families to buy homes there. So it it's one of the few Black Neighborhoods that was always Black, and never White. |
