Ahem... Marriage *is* a sacrament, and one of the few sacraments that all Christian churches lay claim to.

Marriage is much more than two people saying that they are in love, or entering into a life-contract. Marriage is the founding of a new family in the house of God.

But I must tell you that the Catholic Church recognizes all sorts of marriage even though they only perform Catholic marriages.

After all the Church recognizes that people are Validly married in the Episcopal Church, the Lutheran Church, the Methodist Church, the Presbyterian Church, the Baptist Church, and any other Church, Temple, Synagogue or Mosque that one may be married in. The Church also recognizes the validity of civil marriages (thus their opposition to this law).

LION suggests let others do as they will and the Church will do as it wants. There is a separation of church and state in this land and that is a good thing, although the issues involved are much deeper than most imagine.

It is also true that homosexuality is NOT SINFUL. A sin is an INTENTIONAL action against God. Homosexuality is not an intentional situation and so cannot be sinful. Sexual activity can be sinful but homosexuals really do not have a corner on that market. But then the church is in the business of forgiving sins and reconciling people, and it recognized 1900 years ago that it would be forgiving the same sins for the same people over and over again.

So you can admit that you are a recovering sinner or else the Hell with you.
