Its hard for me to quantify how much I know about the Vietnam War. Suffice it to say that I know enough about it to know that pardoning draft dodgers condones behavior detrimental to the country.

What the Vietnam War was about depends on your point of view. From the vantage point of the North and the Viet Cong, it was about imperialist interference by the United States to the North's efforts to reunify the country (under the North's system of government, of course, which was communism). From the South's point of view, it was a struggle against a communist takeover, which at the time was a legitimate fear, given what had occurred in the '50s.

President Kennedy had stated openly that he felt that South Vietnam was a crucial democratic ally to the west and needed to be protected. LBJ continued Kennedy's policy and expanded it. Nixon expanded it further before starting a pullout.

What was the result of the US' loss of the Vietnam War? Millions of dead Vietnamese, Cambodians and Laotians at the hands of Pol Pot and North Vietnam.
