I disagree, and I don’t think it’s a case of glass half-full, glass half-empty. I think Obama’s heart is in the right place, but there is something of Jimmy Carter in him.What we got: TARP watered down with tax cuts. DADT repealed. (Good!) Overseas piracy, minor, really. Recovery of Wall Street: Wall Street would have found a way to do this itself. Believe me. SALT. OK, but again minor. Healthcare: got something passed, but much less than it should be. Still pissing away tons of money to insurance company profits. No single-payer option. No flat fee per patient for primary care. No diluting the special interest of the AMA. No jobs. No jobs. No jobs. Did I say no jobs. Unemployment is only going down because people are giving up. The President of the United States is in a unique position to use his office as a bully pulpit and get the message out to the people. I think candidate Obama was very good at this. President Obama capitulated. |
