All societies can accurately be judged by entering their prisons. Don't delude yourself for one minute that American prisons offer "better living conditions" than the free poor. I've taken patients out of Rikers Island and other city jails, and all of them, as advertised, are horrible places I wouldn't want to spend an hour, let alone years in.That having been said, American prisons are luxury hotels compared to those of Communist countries, whose practices you'd like to adopt here. |
