I've found Chicagoans to be similar to NY'ers in that they insist that good Chicago deep dish pizza can only be found in the Chicago area.The criticisms against the Atlanta Nancy's included vegetables that were still frozen and plasticky cheese, so I think it goes beyond location. "Chicago style" pizza I've had in Providence has way too much baking soda in the crust and it tastes like a bowl-shaped animal cracker. And then there's "Uno Chicago Grill"... :( I don't doubt that there's good Chicago pizza in Detroit. There probably is in Cleveland and Toledo, too. |
