NYC is very likely the premier foodie city in the US, but they still tend to overrate themselves. Sometimes I check out Eater LA and Eater NY and the NY crowd doesn't take anything outside of NYC (Manhattan really) seriously. I've seen commentors argue that they even have better Korean and Mexican food than LA! Another thing that I disagree with is NYC Chinese food, at least in Manhattan. I've never been to Flushing, but what they call NYC style Chinese food in Manhattan is very Americanized. Not bad really, but far from excellent. |
