Obviously some people like it as some like trains, i.e. it's a borderline-inexplicable thing. On the other hand plenty of others like it because you can swear blind at people you don't like, i.e. opposition or even your own team's players, or opposition supporters inside the ground, without chance of recrimination. You can also have a good laugh if you know the people who sit nearby and you can also consume copious amounts of beer both before and after the game in nearby pubs.There is also amusement to be had from fellow spectators. For example, where I go every now and then there is a bloke who sits in front who will remain silent for most of the game even though things may be going badly wrong on the pitch. But when he is triggered by something unimportant he has a tendency to blow his top and indulge in a foul-mouthed rant which condemns everyone associated with the club, from the Chairman to the women in the pie hut. |
