My impression is that affirmative action programs have gotten stronger in the last decade or two, so even if Sotomayor would not have made it in to YLS today if she were Sonia Smith, she would have made it in back in the 1970's.Huh? Are you saying that affirmative action has a significant negative effect on the admission probabilities of people named Smith? I wouldn't say that the effects are significant. My point is only that there are more affirmative action programs in place today as compared to, for example, 1989, and that they are more formalized. My LIRR/NYCT blog |
