My dad took me to the Empire State Building when I was very young. I didn't get to climb the stairs inside the Statue of Liberty until I went with a school group - 7th or 8th grade IIRC. I did go to the WTC a couple of times - once alone and another time to take friends who were visiting from out of town.I absolutely refuse to even take visitors to the Statue of Liberty ever since they closed the stairs to the top. I consider it a rip-off. They say admission is free but you have to pay for the ferry ride to get there - since the ferry is the ONLY WAY there then it effectively has an admission charge and since access to the crown is blocked and the ferry ride is the same cost (or more) you are getting less for more. Therefore I have been very active on the net telling all potential tourists to avoid it as the rip-off that it now is. |
