A minor child is equally at risk when he/she goes to an emergency room for treatment yet that treatment is delayed while the medical staff try to contact the parents. I still don't see the difference.There is also the matter of financial responsibility. Parents should not be held in any way financially responsible for treatment they did not authorize. If the child paid cash from her own source of funds (begging, part time job, etc) I might reconsider my position. |
