1) So what
2) New York is not the center of the universe
3) Anyone who considers New Jersey to be North Dakota isn't flying to South Africa
4) The "hot and high" nature of South Africa requires specific subfleet of aircraft and Delta has no other destination from JFK that needs that fleet whereas they do from Atlanta. United has Asia flights from Newark that they can rotate South Africa aircraft onto.
