Re: Peace Loving Transexual Shoots Up A Minneapolis Church

The original labor/union concept was to prevent the exploitation of the working class, something that Henry Ford for example was very good at.
However the pendulum can swing both ways. Some unions over the years got too powerful (ILA,TWU e.g.) thus the Taylor law for municipal employees and guys like Jimmy Hoffa winding up in the end zone of Giants stadium (maybe).
However, having been working in a union shop all my adult life and been involved in representation and I have seen both sides. We were better off with union protection than without. Nothing in this world is perfect but its was good to know that I wouldn't get fired because my boss didn't like my tie or working for minimum wage w/o benefits. If mgt types could get away with that they would. The blue collar folks out there owe everything they have because the union(s) fought for it.
What do you think train operators and conductors or any other or the 16 or so unions that run the railroads? would make if it weren't for unions?
