"I don’t know how it was in your union,..."Back in the day, the only way you could be fired and it would stick, was for fighting and stealing on company time. Even If you shot the boss (non fatality), you'd get back (w/o seniority) after you did some time. Then your probation officer could get you a job, in many cases back with the railroad. It would help if the shot boss wasn't liked in the first place! I know this is an exaggeration, but in reality not far from what would actually happen, employes that would commit felonies on company time and property getting rehired...back in the day that is like I said. All this was in the freight service. |
