This isn’t some random person you encounter, it’s a murderer.

A murderer is still a person. The attitudes of some people here are prime examples of why I imagine some transgender people are driven to suicide.

There is obviously comorbidity between various mental issues and identifying as transgender; we should not be afraid to look into that.

I agree.

Also, “non-binary” is not a thing.

I don't understand non-binary, but why question it?
