In other words, if they can't get a job or a raise or rent an apartment it is their fault and to hell with them. This is not what our party was founded on. Just how much do you really know of American History and the Republican Party that championed, yes, individualism, but progress and help in educating new generations (The Morill Land Grand Act), the building of the railroads to enable Americans to migrate where they could get free land if they worked it for ten years. The emancipation of over five million former slaves who would have an opportunity to serve in the Army, go to land grant schools, buy land to raise their families. The success was uneven to be sure but it was progress. It was every man for himselfAnd thanks to the greatest President in our history this came about as we were saving our country from those "conservatives" who felt they deserved to gain wealth on the backs of their subjects. |
