The UAW and the automakers would scream about any changes to the existing laws. They have enormous influence in Congress.That's why I believe that the internal combustion engine-fossil fuel combination will be with us for a long time to come. The US economy has a huge stake in the auto and oil industries and anything that negatively affects these industries faces monstrous opposition. So, if someone invented a "Mr. Fusion" today, I doubt it would see the light of day for decades. Who knows? Maybe someone already invented it but was squashed by the government and special interests. |
