The point that he has is that some people actually avoid marriage because it would diminish welfare benefits.The reason that this is meaningless is because if you think about it, if parents decided not to marry ONLY because it would hurt their welfare benefits, then the father in that situation is the kind of responsible person who would actually provide for his child and not abandon him/her. Thus this flaw in the welfare system doesn’t actually encourage fathers to be deadbeats. |
