Re: Fredo: Kill White Kids to Spur Police Reform

Somebody once asked Truman to define the difference between a recession and depression. His reply was, if your neighbor loses his job then it's a recession. If you lose your job, then it's a depression.

Something similar happened with the Vietnam War. There was support, while other people were being drafted. That support evaporated, when they started drafting white and upper class kids out of college.

Support for the police is similar to support for the Vietnam War before Johnson escalated in 1965. The war's excesses were far away and remote. Serious questions regarding our involvement were not raised, until the draft notices started appearing. Support for the police will erode, when a dangling crucifix becomes an excuse for interrogating the more affluent.
