As a Jew, I wonder what the writer thinks of Vatican II.By the way, the ordering of closing of churches is not unconstitutional for many reasons. The Constitution does NOT guarantee "freedom of religion". It does prohibit the government from establishing a state religion. Directing all houses of worship to close, regardless of religion (churches, synagogues, mosques) clearly indicates that the government was not trying to establish any one religion. Religious practice was not banned. I could still pray in my home daily, which I did. I just could not do so communally. And given the health crisis, no court would have found that the government's order to close houses of worship to be unconstitutional. |
