That strongly suggests that admission for the purpose of seeking asylum cannot be refused.Why? So it says, if you're in the US, you can apply for asylum. That doesn't say we must let you into the US to apply for asylum. Canada, for instance, does not allow that. If you go up to a border station and say I want to apply for asylum, they don't let you in and don't let you apply. But if you sneak over the border and wave down a cop and say I want to apply for asylum, they let you apply. |
