I wonder about that...yes, evolution says females want the strongest, most masculine partner to produce offspring with a higher survival probability. If I were straight, I'd probably get selected out by most women because I'm short and hearing-impaired, traits evolution says are "undesirable" (gay men select for different qualities, so I've been more fortunate... LOL!).However, attributes like strength and masculinity in a technologically advanced environment only take you so far. They will make a man biologically successful--I used to know a guy that had (so far as we know) fourteen kids, two of whom were by sisters, making them both siblings and cousins. He wasn't the most attractive fellow, but he had something going on (alpha dog!) that just made women all over South Jamaica and the Rockaways fall into bed with him, and go home pregnant. The kicker? He was, of all things, a barber! However, he will be cutting hair into eternity to pay off astronomical child support. |
