So, you think marriage equality should be a patchwork, legal and recognized in one state, but not in another, reverting to the two-tier system that existed before 2015. Separate and unequal treatment runs counter to the language of the 14th Amendment, and I think this is why SCOTUS ruled as it did (correctly l, IMO) in Obergefell. Straight marriages are legal and recognized everywhere in the U.S., no matter where they were performed, or by whom. I see no compelling reason why same-sex marriages shouldn't also enjoy that universality, and I'm glad the majority of SCOTUS thought so, too.
