There is a huge difference between the way Reid changed the rules and McConnell. Reid got rid of the filibuster, which was undemocratic and contrary to the will of the people. 51 votes should always be enough to confirm. What McConnell did was just bullshit. If the Senate had actually voted down Garland, even giving the same reason as McConnell did, that would have been perfectly fine. |
