If a nation, like maybe Canada, the largest exporter of oil to the US, chooses to limit supply, they will affect the domestic price. So will the fear they will do just that. Compound that with additional nations that export significant amounts to the US,and or the fear of that flow being cutoff, and you get a higher domestic price which may or may not be based on reality, but is entirely based upon instability in the oil markets. |
