Martin was peacefully walking back to the house where he was staying, when Zimmerman, an adult male wearing no uniform, and belonging to no police agency, chased after and accosted Martin. As a 17-year-old child, Martin was completely within his rights to defend himself, "standing his ground" as Florida law allows, against an attacker who might have been a child rapist, for all Martin knew.Martin died because he was successfully defending himself. |
