One sarcastic comment cracked me up, it went something like:I don't understand, wasn't the purpose of this tax to make sure people would buy less soda in Philly? The politicians should be happy about this! Anyway, make it more expensive in the city and people will buy them anywhere else. And the rest of their groceries while out there, too. Unless they reverse this soon I predict the city proper will cease to have large grocery stores. And like other, similar fees (bag tax, alcohol, etc) only the Philly poor have to pay it, since everyone else has a car and can afford the time / fuel to make a trip out and buy in bulk. |
