The fact that you consider "black-on-black crime" merely a trope shows how much you like to stick your head in the sand.

In 2013 (FBI) 2,491 "Blacks or African Americans" were murdered: 189 by whites, 2,245 by blacks; 20 by "Other"; 37 unknown.

In the meantime, 123 black people have been killed by police in the first six months of 2016 (and 238 whites). Those include justified shootings.
